Representatives reject the constitutional accusation of a Chilean minister

The indictment received 76 votes against, six abstentions, and 68 in favour, which is far from the 78 votes needed to advance to the Senate.

The Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ana Lea Uriarte, thanked all those who spoke out against this unfair accusation.

Uriart said this is a tool to accuse the authorities when they break the legal system and in this case there was no legal basis.

Rep. Karol Cariola, of the Communist Party, called for the right to understand that constitutional accusations, unless they are unfounded, are not the way to oppose the government.

“Reason has overcome a baseless, malicious operation on the part of the right. We hope they are now concerned about directing their time and efforts to work for Chile,” the Young Communists wrote on their Twitter account.

The Republican Party accused Jackson of violating laws in matters of Native land purchases, which were not within the power of the minister, and of disturbing the local children’s services, which had gone on for years and barely exceeded four months in office. .
