“Chinampas (traditional agricultural island systems) are of utmost importance in the Xochimilco region, meeting the food needs of approximately 228,000 people; however, the water bodies in that place contain residual discharges, where large amounts of pollutants can be found,” said Karen Flores Trujillo, a postdoctoral researcher at Cinvestav, who highlighted the importance of the research work of the Refugio Rodríguez Vázquez, last August.
