We maintain a wide-ranging political dialogue between presidents, governments, parliaments and foreign ministries of both countries. “We have a mechanism for political consultations in which issues of common interest are discussed,” the Cuban minister stressed, and said that there is broad agreement on the main issues on the international agenda with close contacts in multilateral forums.
For his part, Sergey Lavrov congratulated the founding session of the Cuban Parliament, in which President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and the country’s supreme leadership were re-elected.
He admitted that tensions are increasing in the world and there is an attempt by the West to maintain its hegemony by undermining the sovereignty of other countries. The Russian foreign minister said, “Recent events show the tightening of US sanctions.”
He added that the rules set by Washington reflect the method of continuing colonial norms, which Cuba and Russia reject.
