BEIJING, June 29 (RHC) – Director of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Wang Yi confirmed in a telephone conversation with Principal Adviser to the Presidency of Brazil Celso Amorim that the Asian country’s authorities said today that the BRICS, a group made up of Brazil, Russia and India China and South Africa, is the central mechanism representing the countries of the South.
According to official sources, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said during the dialogue that given the growing suspicions globally, the voice of BRICS should be increasingly heard and the bloc should play a greater role in global affairs. .
He added that China and Brazil bear the responsibility to advance the BRICS work, so as to make new contributions to the promotion of a multipolar world and the democratization of international relations.
For his part, Amorim said that under the current situation, the BRICS countries are playing an increasingly prominent role in promoting peace, stability and development.
Amorim stressed that Brazil is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with China, jointly support South Africa’s work as BRICS chairman by 2023, ensure the successful organization of the leaders’ meeting and show the unity of the bloc.
According to official reports, the two sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine and expressed their commitment to work together continuously to find a political solution to the crisis.
