KABUL, Dec 29 (RHC) Ministry of Public Health spokesperson Javed Hazir has confirmed that Afghanistan lacks the test kits to detect the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus SARS-CV2.

The official said that the Micron was not detected by the PCR machines we have now, it would require more advanced machines.

He warned: We asked the World Health Organization to provide the necessary equipment to examine cases with the new strain, and promised to ship it by the end of January 2022.

Officials at the Afghan-Japanese Hospital, one of the centers for Covid-19 treatment in Kabul, have expressed deep concern about the lack of medical supplies at the centre.

Dr. Ahmed Jawad Fadel saw that the economic and political problems made Covid-19 not taken seriously, and now a health crisis will occur if Micron does not face the last wave of this epidemic.
