Polina Berezina, seeded ring finalist at the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

Spanish gymnast Paulina Berezina qualified, Thursday, for the ring final at the 39th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, which is being held in Baku (Azerbaijan), while her compatriot Alba Bautista will serve as the second reserve in that case for the continental title.

On the first day of competition for the senior category, the representatives of Spain jumped the carpet in the Mille Gimnastica Arenasi in the fourth round of the classification day. They have done it with athletes from Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Israel, Serbia, San Marino, Romania and the United Kingdom.

In the hoop rotation, Berezina finished seventh thanks to a score of 31,950, while Bautista managed 31,450 to finish tenth and achieve at least one of three alternate places for the final. Ukraine’s Viktoria Onoprenko, with a score of 33.650, set the best record out of the 71 participants.

In the rotation of the ball, Bautista was the best Spaniard, who finished ninth with 31,050 points, and remained the first reserve for the final. For its part, Berezina took the 18th place with 30,200 points. Bulgarian Steliana Nikolova led with a score of 34,600 points among 71 gymnasts in the competition.
