LIMA, October 19 (EFE).- Peru Moda Deco 2023 plans to close more than $80 million worth of business during its 25th edition in Lima, after the arrival of 200 buyers from several countries who will visit Peruvian clothing exhibitors. Handicrafts, decor and gifts, among other things, it was announced on Thursday during the inauguration.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Juan Carlos Mathews, said at the opening of the exhibition that the fashion and decoration sector in Peru generates 400,000 direct jobs and 900,000 indirect jobs, with “strong decentralized participation and a strong small-scale and small business component.”
He pointed out that about 200 export companies are participating in the exhibition under the slogan “In Harmony with the World,” expecting to achieve sales worth $80 million, which means an increase of 14% compared to the results of Peru Moda Deco last year. The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Committee (Promperú), the organizer of the event.
In turn, buyers come from the United States, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Germany, Chile, Mexico, France, the United Kingdom and China in search of new products in the categories offered by the exhibition, among others, cotton, alpaca and children’s clothing. Children’s, shoes, accessories, jewelry, decor and gifts as well as private label brands.
Among them are 15 companies from the Gamarra Textile Store’s Export Route program and 10 companies with Good Fair Trade Practices certification.
43% of the exhibitors are small and micro businesses, 66% from Lima and 26.5% from Arequipa, Cusco, Ayacucho, Junín and Loreto.
