Paris 2024: USA wins third straight swimming gold | XEU Sports

The U.S. men’s 4×100 freestyle relay team added its third straight Olympic title, winning the Paris Olympic final in 3:09.28 on Saturday.

The quartet of Jack Alexie, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong and Caeleb Dressel gave no choice to any of their rivals, as evidenced by the more than second-placed finish the North Americans held over their closest pursuers, Australia, who took silver in 3:10.35.

Thirty-five seconds less than Italy, which dropped one step on the podium compared to the last Tokyo Olympics and had to settle for bronze with a time of 3:10.70 minutes.

A victory that would be incomprehensible without the dramatic finishes by Chris Giuliani, the new American sprint star, and Hunter Armstrong, which allowed Caleb Dressel to face the final hundred meters by almost two seconds.

Dressel knew how to handle it skillfully and ensure victory for an American team that had only been denied an Olympic gold medal once since 2008, at the 2012 London Olympics where they lost to France.
