The Director of the UACh School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Luis Carlos Hinojos, emphasized that by abolishing the UACH DS learning model, a return to the educational model is committed through competencies, which was previously implemented, but nowadays is accepted with new tools such as the use of technology .
The interviewee noted that this model focuses on student learning, and takes advantage of the pandemic experience that has forced virtualization, which has enriched the work of teachers.
“It was decided to suspend the UACH DS form because in the planning process it turned out that it was not the right time for university, but we will not go back to an earlier form, but rather a rich one,” he said.
The pediatric pulmonologist noted that he had the opportunity, with the epidemic, to make a deep introspection regarding the programs and methodologies that had been implemented, that is, to return to self-knowledge.
He added that in line with the health field, the professions are objective and not abstract knowledge, “and we miss the time to see everything in the depth that we want, this is something at the national level, in the health professions and above all a very deep knowledge,” noting that in this profession you have to To know ‘too much too little’.
The previous model (DS) could be applied to other fields, but in health it was very complicated because there was a need to focus on health topics, and other complementary topics could be offered through elective topics.
“But it will not go back to what it was before, but rather an enhanced return, as the use of technology is something that remains, and this will continue to be used, for example, in Zoom meetings, Zoom conferences, and ongoing medical update sessions.”
