Within the framework of the consultation “Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Pioneering Initiatives Based on Behavioral Sciences and Behavioral Economics to Improve Environmental Management Tools”, the Environmental Economics Department team is working to enhance the integration of behavioral sciences and their analysis tools into environmental management tools, in order to achieve better results in a cost-effective manner.
This consultation, awarded to a team of experts led by BVA Nudge Consulting, seeks to apply behavioural science tools to analyse biases and gaps in environmental instruments relating to air quality, sustainable consumption and production and waste management.
Through this diagnosis, possible interventions will be designed, prioritized and implemented as a pilot, in order to evaluate their effectiveness and make recommendations for their adoption.
In particular, work will be done to improve the implementation of the heater replacement programme in the Aisne region, as well as measures to reduce food waste at the municipal level in the capital region. In developing management plans in the AMERB area in Maitencillo, Valparaíso Region. This latest intervention is part of the GEF’s Economic Instruments for Biodiversity Conservation program.
So far, the consulting team has held a workshop to disseminate the counseling and behavioral science tools, and a visit to the Aisne area is planned by the consulting company as well as an MMA representative to complete the information gathering on the heater replacement program.
The next stages of the study include designing and implementing pilot projects, as well as evaluating them to come up with recommendations.
