Europe is one of the largest trading blocs in the world, and has a wide range of trading partners. This map shows the main trading partners of each European country. The largest trading partner on this map is determined by the total value of imports and exports combined.
Germany is the largest economy in Europe and perhaps the most important trading partner for other European countries. Germany is the main trading partner for about half of European countries. The United Kingdom, which is the second largest economy in Europe, is not even the largest trading partner of any European country. France, the third European economy, is Spain’s main trading partner. Italy, the fourth European economy, is the main trading partner of four European countries: Albania, Croatia, Malta and the Vatican. And Spain is the main partner of PortugalAccording to data from the International Monetary Fund.
Although the United States and China are important trading partners for most European countries, they are the main trading partner for a very small number of European countries. For the United Kingdom and Ireland, the United States is the main trading partner. For Russia, it’s China.
The European Union is often thought of as a single trading bloc and is therefore usually counted as a single trading partner in these types of statistics. While I fully agree that the European Union should be included as one trading partner, I have decided not to participate in this particular map. The reason is that the EU will be the largest trading partner for all European countries except Belarus. For Belarus, Russia will continue to be its main trading partner, according to the International Monetary Fund.
