As part of the program of activities for his official visit to Cambodia, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz met on Wednesday at the Royal Palace of Norodom Sihamoni, the king of that Asian country.

The Twitter account of Luerca Rodríguez Barrios, Cuban Ambassador to Cambodia, reported that during the exchange they recalled the friendship between King Father Norodom Sihanouk and the historical leader of the revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, both founders of the Non-Aligned Movement and promoter of the movement. The Prime Minister of the Caribbean region arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday to accomplish a broad agenda that included a meeting with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and the signing of cooperation agreements in the sports and culture sector.

Marrero Cruz also laid offerings of flowers at the Independence Monument to the Kingdom of Cambodia, a symbol of that country’s history, and paid tribute to King Father Norodom Sihanouk (1922-2012), before the statue commemorating him.

Cambodia is the last destination of the first tour in Asia as prime minister made by the Antilles official, after visiting the countries of Vietnam and Laos, and participating in the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Japan.
