A Norwalk High School teacher on Tuesday received the nationally recognized Milken Educator Award with a cash award of $25,000 for her work in science, technology, engineering and math education, with Oprah Winfrey lauding her for being among the “most amazing teachers in the country.” “.
Los Alisos STEM Magnet Middle School Angelica Gunderson is the only teacher in California and among over 60 nationwide to receive the award during the 2021-22 season. She is the first winner from the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District.
Gunderson is the Los Alisos Principal Instructor for Project Lead the Way, a three-year science program that covers coding, robotics, green architecture, and more.
