Scientist Jorge Cressi, a retired senior researcher from CONICET at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and University National Museum of La Plata (FCNyM, UNLP), will be incorporated as an academic member of the National Academy of Sciences (ANC) in Argentina, the agency reported.
The celebration will take place next Friday, April 9 at 6:00 pm during the event that will take place in the virtual assembly hall of ANC via the Zoom platform.
Crisci is a Physician of Natural Sciences from UNLP, Honorary Professor of the House of Graduate Studies, and a full member of the National Academy of Agricultural and Veterinary Medicine.
Among his prizes, he was awarded the Diploma of Merit in Botany from the Konex Foundation; Houssay Lifetime Achievement Award 2009 from the National Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation (MINCyT); The Stebbins Medal from the International Association for Classification of Plants.
As reported from local Conicet, the ANC award is based on his scientific and personal background, for “what he did to develop his specialty in Argentina” and “to dedicate his life to science”, as expressed by the entity.

Finally, from the organism they anticipated, during the ceremony, Crisci will present a conference titled “Evolution: The Basis for Teaching Biology”.
