Lisa moving towards Guatemala as a tropical storm (+ map) – Escambrai

On Thursday, Lisa will reach northern Guatemala in the form of a tropical storm after hitting Belize as a Category 1 hurricane.

Lisa made landfall Wednesday at the mouth of the Sibon River near Belize City with heavy rain, wind and storms, and was moving west at 19 km/h around 7:00 p.m. local time.

Recent reports indicate that it will arrive at any moment in Guatemalan territory, through the Petén region, accompanied by winds of 95 kilometers per hour, accompanied by a category of tropical storms.

All of Belize and a strip of the coast of southeastern Mexico, from Chetumal to Puerto Costa Maya, is under hurricane warning because of Lisa.

For its part, the Honduran government has suspended the tropical storm warning for the Bay Islands and the country’s northern coast.

Lisa is expected to continue moving west to cross Guatemala and a strip of Mexico, until it drains into the Bay of Campeche to take an erratic course and turn into a tropical depression at the end of next Friday to dissipate.
