Lilia Cedillo opens the Faculty of Medicine and Applied Sciences Laboratory in Sports

Dean BUAP, Maria Lilia Cedillo Ramirez, fire College of Medicine and Applied Sports Science Laboratory, which contains various equipment such as a cardio and ergometer, the latter for measuring strength and diagnosing injuries; Also the areas of biochemistry of clinical analysis, psychological care, dental offices, medicine and nutrition, spaces that will support not only the coaches and athletes of the institution, but also the athletes from Puebla.

“Now we can carry out laboratory studies and provide stronger support to coaches, and obviously the beneficiaries will be our athletes. These facilities will also support the work of the Faculty of Physical Culture, since through these laboratory studies we will lead to research work. Scientific research should reach all fields, and sport is no exception .

Today the project has become a reality, the rector of the university stressed: “It will be a place where the athletes from Puebla find health and prevention.”

José Miguel López Serrano, Director of Sports and Physical Culture, thanked University President Lilia Cedillo for her willingness to support sports as an essential part of students’ training and insisted that these facilities would allow for better athletic results in various competitions. Working hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, except for the dental clinic, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

In the company of Yadira Lira Navarro, General Director of the Poblano Sports Institute, the Dean of BUAP inaugurated the first Sports Medicine Symposium in the Ciudad Universitaria Convention Center, organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Culture. The first conference was presented by Ángel Piedra Valdes, doctor of the national judo team and specialist in sports medicine, who spoke about measuring air pressure.
