Lucía Buenrostro Sánchez, an economist with 15 years of experience in financial markets and public banking, has been appointed as one of the vice-chairmen of the National Commission for Banks and Securities (CNBV), according to information obtained by this newspaper.
Buenrostro Sánchez will serve as vice president for regulatory policy, replacing Jose Antonio Quesada, according to the agreement of the CNBV Board of Directors, which met Thursday, according to information obtained.
Buenrostro Sanchez holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. He also has 15 years of experience in the financial markets.
He has experience in the capital markets and their regulatory environment, having worked on the implementation of regulatory procedures at the Basel Committee on Banking Practice.
From January 2019 to January 2021 she was Deputy Director General of Credits and Guarantees at Banco del Bienestar and to date holds the position of General Secretary of Cofepris.
The CNBV Board of Directors consists of the organization’s president, Juan Pablo Graf Noriega. Treasury Secretary, Rogelio Ramirez de la O, and Governor of the Bank of Mexico, Alejandro Diaz de Leon, among other representatives of the financial system.
