NEW YORK — John Wick: Chapter 4, the fourth film in the series starring Keanu Reeves, opened to $73.5 million at the North American box office, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
The film was shown in 3,855 theaters in the region.
Globally, it is estimated that approximately $137.5 million will be collected from the premiere in 71 countries, including Germany, Australia, France, Italy, Spain and Mexico.

In the UK, it took in $6.7 million, up 56% from what John Wick 3 did in its premiere, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
And so, Lionsgate, with Reeves as the reluctant killer but not quite John Wick, surpassed the expectations and opening weekends of previous films in the franchise. Since its debut in 2014 with John Wick ($14 million in its opening weekend), Chad Stahelski’s series has increased ticket sales with each sequel.
