Judges protest economic and social conditions in Lebanon

Local media reported that about 380 judges are committed to the strike in the coming days, representing all departments: the Public Prosecution, the Investigation, members of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Military Court, and the Audit Bureau.

The Asharq Al-Awsat website stated that the suspension of jobs came in response to the aggravation of the crisis in the sector through political interference in judicial files and an attempt to undermine the investigation and its dignity and obstruction of work.

Al-Binaa newspaper reported that judges in the country are facing darkness in the courts as a result of power cuts and lack of water, hygiene, stationery and daily work tools, forcing them to buy them from their pockets to operate them. the courts.

The call for the strike was supported by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Suhail Abboud, who respected the position of his colleagues and considered that the demands were justified after the tragic circumstances and conditions suffered by the commission at all levels.

Abboud pointed out that the strike and the suspension of the course of justice require rapid action to address the repercussions in the sector, which cause great harm to the interests of the people stuck in the cases.

The newspaper “Al-Akhbar” reported that until yesterday there was no negotiation with the political authority, according to the judges, who indicated that the ceiling of the demands is a salary equivalent to subsistence needs and a transportation bonus to go to work.

This strike by judges in the country comes a few days after the gradual return of public sector employees to their duties after more than a month of indefinite unemployment due to similar demands.
