The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has informed King Charles III of the United Kingdom that he will be the first American woman to represent the country at his coronation.
And the White House indicated, through a statement, that the president “congratulated the King on his upcoming coronation and informed him that First Lady Jill Biden hopes to attend on behalf of the United States.”
“The president also expressed his desire to meet the King in the United Kingdom at a later date,” the letter continued, adding that they commented on the “strong relationship” and “friendship” between the two countries.
The coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Queen Camilla Parker Bowles will take place during the first weekend in May, from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 at Westminster Abbey in London. On Saturday, the coronation ceremony, the king’s procession and the royal salute will take place from Buckingham Palace. On the Sunday in May there will be a concert at Windsor Castle and the “Great Coronation Lunch”. The last day, Monday, will be devoted to the work of the volunteer program.
Carlos III ascended the throne in September 2022 after the long reign of his mother, Elizabeth II. The new king will be crowned at the age of 74, and thus will become the most recent coronation in the history of this monarchy, as well as the first in nearly 70 years.
