According to the data published in The official website of the royal family The total sovereign grant receiving funding from taxpayers last June was 86.3 million pounds ($99 million), an increase of 600,000 pounds over 2020-2021 spending.
According to the same site, the amount represents 1.29 pounds per person in the United Kingdom (approximately one and a half dollars).
The amount is obtained from A basic grant of £51.8 million (about $60 million), which funds official travel, property maintenance and operating costs for the royal family. To this is added an additional 34.5 million pounds ($39.5 million) in reserve, earmarked to pay for Buckingham Palace repairs.
The basic scholarship is equivalent to 77p per person in the UK (88 cents). Revenue collected to complement the sovereign grant was £9.9 million ($11.36 million), an increase of 5% from £9.4 million in 2020-2021.
According to the royal family’s website, the number is still less than 50% of pre-pandemic levels and still largely reflects the impact of covid-19 on The Royal Collection Trust’s ability to receive welcome visitors to its occupied royal palaces.
Official spending exceeded the sovereign grant and additional revenue earned, with net spending of £102.4 million ($117.48 million), 17% more than the previous year. This boosted the total spending of £54.6m on Buckingham Palace reserves, an increase of 41 per cent.
The Sovereign Grant reserve was reduced by 14.6 million pounds ($16.75 million).
