Student Regina Correa Martín and teacher Adela Molina Guzmán, from Esperanza High School, have made it to the international stage of the INFOMATRIX Chile 2024 Science Fair, which will take place in September, with their innovative project “Vita Nopal”.
The Vita Nopal project focuses on the production of nopal-based sweets and jams sweetened with stevia and monk fruit. This approach is not only original, but also seeks to provide healthy options for people with special dietary needs. The idea came from research conducted in the classroom, where the properties of aloe vera were explored and unique recipes for these products were developed.
The student and her teacher commented that despite the initial challenges in developing the project, the reception to their work was very positive. The products were tested by family, friends and school community members and received praise for their quality and taste.
The team will travel to Chillán, Chile, to compete in the Latin American Science and Technology Association, representing their school, our state, and our country. The competition will take place on September 5, 6, and 7, 2024.

The entrepreneurs are excited about the future of Vita Nopal. In addition to participating in the competition, they have plans to patent the product and explore marketing opportunities, with the goal of benefiting patients who cannot consume sugary products.
