MIAMI, Florida – Tropical Storm Julia has left heavy rains spreading across Central America. Heavy rains, floods and mudslides are expected over Central America and southern Mexico through Tuesday.
according to Monday Bulletin at 2 a.m. ET According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the system was located 45 miles east-southeast of San Salvador, El Salvador.
The hurricane has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving west at 15 mph.
Julia’s eye is expected to continue to move across Nicaragua today and off the Pacific coast tonight. Julia will then move near and parallel the Pacific coasts of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala tonight and Monday.
According to the NHC’s forecast, additional weakness is expected over the next couple of days, but Julia is still expected to remain a tropical storm as it moves near the Pacific coasts of Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador tonight and Monday. Julia is expected to dissipate off the coast of Guatemala on Monday night.
