Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum

Edition started today 64 from the Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (Gakov 64) who will meet at Ethiopia until May 24th.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Center for Climate Prediction and Applications, in collaboration with other partners, organized the event under the theme “Climate Services for Proactive Action”.

The event will focus on the season from June to September, and will assess the effects of the season from March to May.

Also among its goals is climate management analysis and forecast strategies for the coming months.

The meeting will be a platform for interaction between decision makers, climate scientists, researchers, users of climate information and development partners.

Representatives of the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of the IGAD Member States attending (Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan and South Sudan), and partner groups such as the World Meteorological Organization, the European Union, and the Organization of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States.
