This was pointed out by the head of the National Tourism Authority, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Nguyen Truong Khanh, who praised the progress made by the sector in recent years.
At the opening ceremony of the Nha Trang Cruise Tourism Festival 2024, the director stressed that Vietnam has become a prominent point on the global tourism map recognized by the international community with many important awards.
He explained that from January to last May, the Indo-Chinese state served about 7.6 million international visitors and 52.5 million domestic tourists, generating income of more than $13.83 billion.
He noted that Nha Trang is emerging as an attractive coastal tourist city for local and international visitors and serves as the gateway and heart of the central south coast and central highland regions, making it a prime location for hosting international events.
Nha Trang Bay, the magnificent pearl, is the main theme of the 2024 Marine Tourism Festival, which opened the day before in that resort town and will last four days. Organizers expect the planned activities to attract between 350,000 and 400,000 local and international visitors.
