The International Documentary Association announced the shortlisted for Best Feature Film and Best Short Film at the 36th IDA Documentary Awards.
The list of potential candidates includes “Boise State”, “Crepe Camp”, “Welcome to Chechnya” and “Gonda”, among others. Up to 10 candidates will be shortlisted in each of the short fiction and short film categories, and they will be announced on November 24. The virtual award ceremony will take place in January 2021.
This year, IDA received 1,056 entries in all categories, including 365 documentaries from 67 countries and 153 short documentaries from 21 countries.
“It’s exciting to see that the IDA Awards final list includes so many movies from all over the world,” said Simon Kilmore, CEO of IDA. “The diversity of stories and producers is as diverse as what we have. It reflects the wide range of approaches to documentary filmmaking and some of the most pressing issues today.”
