Facebook users around the world are reporting issues with their homepage when trying to navigate the app.
The issues are highlighted on other social media platforms like Twitter, where people flock to post about seeing “random” people post on celebrity pages.
Facebook owner Meta said he was aware of the reports and was “working to get things back to normal”.
DownDetector, a website where people can report outages and problems with various platforms, started receiving problem reports after 6am.
It has received more than 2,500 reports from Facebook users about the feed, with some describing it as a “strange issue”.
One Twitter user said, “Is my feed full of spam from random people posting on celebrity pages?”
Another wrote: “Facebook, how are you, brother?”
Reports suggest that if someone posts on a celebrity’s page, anyone else who follows that celebrity will see the post in their news feed.
These posts on popular pages are usually filtered using an algorithm.
Unrelated posts appear above posts from friends and acquaintances on the platform.
A Meta spokesperson told Sky News: “We are aware that some people are experiencing issues with their Facebook feed.
“We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”
The issue appears to be affecting users worldwide, with outages reported in the UK, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Italy, France, the US, Poland and Australia.
People try to make the problem work for them by trying to promote their interests or projects; These publications include job applications, promotion of social channels, and commercials.
