The ceremony was attended by the three highest representatives of the European Union, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Council President Charles Michel and Parliament Speaker, Roberta Metsola, despite Brexit.
Many political leaders reacted to the coronation of Carlos III as King of the United Kingdom.
One of the first to respond was the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who was invited to the event, despite London leaving the European Union after the Brexit referendum in 2016.
Ursula von der Leyen, who was accompanied at the ceremony by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the Speaker of Parliament, tweeted: “The coronation is a testament to the permanence of the British monarchy. A symbol of stability and continuity.” Roberta Metsola.
Monarchy is a unifying and stable asset in this country that has had three prime ministers in less than a year, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and now Rishi Sunak.
From Kenya, where he was on an official trip, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz highlighted the King’s commitment to the European Union and the environment.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose wife attended the ceremony at Buckingham Palace and the coronation in Westminster Abbey, wished King Charles III many years of successful rule, and the United Kingdom “shared prosperity and victories with us.”

But the coronation was followed with special interest from the Saxon city of Viscri, in the Romanian region of Transylvania, where the king has owned many properties since 2006, undoubtedly remembering his Saxon origins.
