“Eureka” was bought by Lisandro Alonso for UK distribution

eureka, film Lisandro Alonso The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival starring Viggo Mortensen, and was purchased for UK and Ireland distribution by Sovereign.

The agreement was managed by Andreas Roald and Dan Wechsler, representatives for British-born distributor and producer Marianne Slot of Slot Machine, on behalf of the producers.

eureka is a co-production between France, Germany, Portugal, Mexico and Argentina, produced by the French company Slot Machine, along with 4L, Luxbox, Arte France Cinema, Woo Films (France), Komplizen Film (Germany) and Rosa Filmes (Portugal). The screenplay is written by Fabian Casas.

It follows the story of Alaina (Alaina Clifford), a police officer on the Pine Ridge Reservation who decides to stop answering her radio, leaving her niece Sadie to wait in vain for her return. Hurt by Alina’s absence, Sadie embarks on a journey with her grandfather’s guidance. The journey transcends time and space, taking her to South America and changing her perception of the world. When Sadie encounters the dreams of forest dwellers, she learns that birds, if understood, hold truths that humans cannot comprehend.

The narrative unfolds in three distinct parts, centering on Sadie, who becomes a migratory bird, connecting continents and eras. The cast also includes Chiara Mastroianni, Alaina Clifford, Sadie Lapointe, Marcio Marante, and Luisa Cruz.

Sovereign CEO Andreas Rold told Variety: “We are excited to bring ‘Eureka’ to British and Irish audiences. The film has intense emotional depth and features outstanding performances from the cast and crew. We are proud to be part of this project and hope the story moves audiences as much as it touches us.”

Among other Ibero-American titles, Sovereign also acquired UK distribution rights to alternativeby Diego Lerman W common crimeby Francisco Marquez.

Premiere of a movie eureka in the region scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
