British star Ed Sheeran will wrap up celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II’s reign next June, after a historic parade in honor of the British monarch and the diversity of the British people, organizers said.
The parade, one of those “only happens once in a lifetime” – according to its creators – will take place on June 5 through the streets of London and will be the culmination of the four days of festivities it has planned. Platinum Jubilee the queen.
After the bells ring from Westminster Abbey, the three-kilometre walk to Buckingham Palace, where Ed Sheeran will salute the 96-year-old king with his music.

Described by the organizers as a “national treasure,” the singer said he was “proud to be a part of the festivities.”
In total, 10,000 soldiers, artists of all kinds and volunteers will participate in the event, which will be broadcast on television screens around the world and may be followed by, according to estimates, 1,000 million people.
“This is such a unique thing. In all of our history, we have never had the opportunity to celebrate our 70th anniversary,” Adrian Evans, the show’s “leader,” said enthusiastically.
“I wanted to find a way in which everyone could participate, so that all the communities in the UK could play a role and participate in their own way in the celebrations,” he told AFP.

The event will feature air shows, music of all styles, street art, dance, and street theater, among other artistic manifestations. “I have created a parade that brings together different styles of artistic performances and festivities. Together they tell the story of Elizabeth II’s reign.”
But will the king attend the show? Will she appear on the balcony at the end of the show, when the audience can enter the enormous park at the entrance to the mansion and where her favorite Corgis are waiting for her?
“We are in contact with the royal house about the participation of all members of the royal family. Details will be released in due course,” said Rosana Machado, chief executive of the procession.
Elizabeth II largely withdrew from public life due to her mobility problems. Her appearances have been increasingly rare since October, when she was briefly hospitalized, but in late March she attended a religious ceremony honoring Prince Philip. (With information from Agence France-Presse)
