Jaén Province exported products worth 653 million euros in the first half of 2023, 3.3 percent of the Andalusian total. But it suffered a 16.3 percent drop in sales compared to the same period in 2022, “affected mainly by a decline in its exports of olive oil (high prices and drought) and plastics.”

These are the data provided to Europe Press by the Business Agency for Economic Transformation and Development (Trade), from which it is added that Geén enjoys a healthy balance with a coverage rate of 110 percent and a trade surplus of 58 million.

Machinery and appliances made of electrical materials lead Jaen’s exports, with a value of 300 million euros, representing almost half of sales, with 46 percent of the total, an increase of 2.3 percent, the third best company in the top ten.

Followed by fats and oils, with a value of 125 million euros, representing 19.1 percent of the total, a decrease of 45 percent. Of this total sold, 95 million (76 percent) corresponded to olive oil, i.e. 6.5 percent of the total, a decrease of 52 percent.

Plastic and its products come in behind, with 51 million, or 7.8 percent of the total, a decrease of 24.5 percent. The fourth most exported quarter is automobile vehicles with 31 million, 4.7 percent of the total and the best growth among the top ten, rising by 29.5 percent.

The next section is furniture, with 24.7 million, representing 3.8 percent of the total and a decrease of 3.8 percent. Aluminum and its products: 15.9 million, by 2.4 percent, a decrease of 21.1 percent, and machinery and boilers, 12.5 million, by 1.9 percent, and a decrease of 11.2 percent.

Then appears paper and board -9.5 million, 1.5 percent of total sales in Geant and the second best growth, at 2.4 percent-; Lumber by 8.1 million, i.e. 1.2 percent and a decrease of 12.7 percent; Pharmaceutical products amounted to 8.1 million, or 1.2 percent of the total, a decrease of 8.9 percent.

In terms of markets, Geant products reach three continents with the top ten positions. Germany is the leader with €198 million, 30 percent of sales and a decline of 3.3 percent. In second place is Portugal (71 million, 10.9 percent, a decrease of 13.3 percent), and in third place is France, with 64 million, 9.7 percent, and an increase of 2 percent.

In fourth place is Italy, with 60 million, or 9.1 percent of the total, a decline of 62 percent. Followed by the United States – 42 million, 6.4 percent, down 22.9 percent – and Morocco, 37 million, 5.7 percent, down 12.2 percent.

Next comes the United Kingdom (35 million, 5.3 percent, down 5.6 percent); Poland with 25.1 million, 3.8 percent of the total and the second best increase at 5.7 percent; Slovakia – 14.3 million, 2.2 percent of the total and the best increase in the top ten, with 27.9 percent – ​​and the Netherlands, with 11.3 million, 1.7 percent and the third best increase, with an increase of 5.3 percent.
