The news is accompanied by the release of a song of the same name, produced by the artist himself.
“Kimosabè” is a divine realm with ethereal and fantastic soundscapes, transcending the status quo. It is the first DOPE LEMON album to feature the face of Angus Stone, the project’s creator, on its cover. He himself comments: «This album is all I am. In the past, cartoons were a little anonymous because I was trying to explore these patterns, and having this shield in front of me was beautiful: I could slide into the shadows and the audience couldn’t judge the person behind it. On this record, I had moments of clarity reflecting on my childhood, and was able to see where I wanted to be in the future… So putting myself on the cover felt like the right thing to do.”
Filled with soft melodic guitars and soothing drums, the album’s title track is another effortless suggestion, charmingly complemented by DOPE LEMON’s soothing vocals. The catchy vocal line allows the song to flow smoothly, while the sultry production gives a soothing atmosphere, embracing the listeners in a comforting manner. Guided by a funky, funky, goal-oriented song – “Don’t Mess with Gotty” – the theme and personality of the song gives a clue to the upcoming album.
Their latest album ‘Rose Pink Cadillac’ reached No. 1 on the ARIA Vinyl Chart and ARIA Australian Album Chart, was crowned Triple J’s Most Outstanding Album of 2022 and the album’s title track topped No. 27 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 (2021). The accolades don’t stop there, as David Letterman has personally chosen “Marinade” as the theme song for the new series of the hit Netflix show, “My Next Guest.”
DOPE LEMON has amassed over 625,000,000 streams across all platforms. In the past three years, he has sold more than 45,000 vinyl records and 12,000 CDs and has amassed more than 30,000 album and song downloads.
