The mini trio is in Group B along with the United States, Slovakia and Fiji. Group stage matches will be played at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm (Ecuadorian time). From the Round of 16 to the Grand Final it will be from 12:30 and 16:00 (Ecuadorian time).
Ecuador’s first match in the U-20 World Cup will be against the United States on May 20 at 1:00 pm.at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario, a stage with a capacity of 25,286 spectators.
In the second date, Ecuador will face Slovakia on Tuesday, May 23, from 4:00 pm. In the same stadium as San Juan del Bicentenario, the last match of the group stage will be on Friday 26 May against Fiji at the Unico Madre de Ciudades stadium in Santiago del Estero.
The World Cup format remains the same as in previous editions. The 24 qualifying teams are divided into six groups of four teams each. The first two advance to the Round of 16, along with the four best third-place finishers.
As it also happens in the rest of the FIFA World Cup tournaments, the elimination once the first stage is passed is a single match. Whoever wins stays, and whoever loses. From the round of 16 onwards, matches that end in a draw will first go to extra time and then penalties, if necessary..
