Cuba Celebrates Anniversary of the Caribbean Community – Radio Rebelde



The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes a congratulatory message on the occasion of today’s celebration of the 51st anniversary of the founding of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

CARICOM was established in 1973, replacing the Caribbean Free Trade Association which was established in 1965, and is an organization for promoting relations in the Caribbean region, headquartered in Georgetown, Guyana.

It consists of 15 countries, the majority of which are English-speaking, while Aruba, Colombia, Curacao, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Sint Maarten and Venezuela participate in the group’s dynamics as observers.

Cuba and the Caribbean Community maintain a relationship of solidarity and cooperation, especially with regard to human capacity development, the provision of health services and cooperation in disaster situations.
