The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States unanimously agreed on Friday to request that Venezuela’s National Electoral Council publish the minutes containing the voting results for the presidential elections at the level of each polling station as soon as possible.

It also calls on the electoral authority to respect the fundamental principle of popular sovereignty through “impartial verification of results that ensures the transparency, credibility and legitimacy of the electoral process.”

The regional organization also called on all parties concerned and political and social actors, including the authorities in Venezuela, to refrain from any behavior that could harm the construction of a peaceful solution to this crisis, while respecting the sovereign will of the Venezuelan electorate.
