Clarification of the objectives of the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Iraq – Prensa Latina

According to Al-Baldawi, from the Iraqi Fatah faction (Al-Fatah, in Spanish), the head of Iranian diplomacy will emphasize the strengthening of bilateral relations.

He said that Iran does not need any mediation from Iraq to negotiate with the United States or others.

There is another point on Zarif’s agenda in the Iraqi territories, which is to ensure that relations between Baghdad and Tehran remain solid in the face of Iraqi relations with the enemies of the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the diplomat’s visit to Iraq and then to Qatar is to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss regional and trans-regional issues.

According to analysts’ perception, the Iranian foreign minister is including in his agenda possible talks between Tehran and his regional enemy, Saudi Arabia, after learning from Western sources that there was a meeting of officials from the two countries at the beginning of the month.

So far, none of the capitals has confirmed that interview in Baghdad during which it was said to have dealt with restoring severed ties in 2016.

Iranian officials did not confirm or deny this appointment, although they claimed that they always welcome dialogue with Saudi Arabia, but Riyadh denied recording such a meeting.

But the British newspaper “Financial Times” revealed the secret of those talks by revealing that they took place on April 9th, and that other rounds were planned.
