Panama national football team coach, Thomas Christiansen, said today, in a press conference, that Thursday against the United States, “we cannot allow ridiculous mistakes” if we want to obtain a result that leaves the qualification options open for the 2024 Copa America quarter-finals.

He added: “If we focus on what we have to do and maintain this commitment, and this physical effort that the United States will ask of us, we can play a good match like we did against Uruguay in the second half.” The Panama coach said: “We cannot allow silly mistakes and missed passes that put us in a defensive shift that hurts us.”

Christiansen emphasized that his team “always wants to compete” and even more so in a tournament in which it does not usually participate, such as the Copa America. “You have to live it and compete. It will help us later in the qualifiers…” he added.

Panama will face the United States on Thursday from 5:00 pm at AT&T Stadium in Atlanta, an obligation that the Panamanian national team must at least draw to reach the match against Bolivia with the possibility of obtaining a ticket to qualify for the quarter-finals.
