Chinese Premier Says China and UK Should Handle Disagreements Properly

New Delhi, September 10, 2019 (Xinhua) – Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Sunday that China and Britain should properly handle their differences and respect each other’s fundamental interests and major concerns.

During his meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the G20 summit, Li said that China and Britain are two major global economies, and both are closely interconnected.

Li said that the two sides should seek to bring more benefits to each other and the world through stable and mutually beneficial relations between China and Britain.

He added that China is willing to work with Britain to adhere to mutual respect, treat each other equally, view each other’s development objectively, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and promote the stable and long-term development of relations between the two countries.

The Chinese Premier said that the two sides should adhere to open cooperation and protect and expand common interests.

He noted that both China and the United Kingdom are advocates, practitioners and beneficiaries of free trade, and the two countries should jointly oppose mixing trade and economic cooperation with politics and security, promote the construction of an open global economy, and defend the multilateral trade agreement.
