BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) — China has always adopted a positive and open attitude to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the United Kingdom, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Wednesday.
Mao made the remark when asked to confirm whether British Foreign Secretary David Lammy was considering visiting China.
Mao noted that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lamy not long ago in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
Mao said that China and the UK are both permanent members of the UN Security Council and major world economies, adding that the increasingly stable and mutually beneficial bilateral relations between China and the UK serve the fundamental interests of both peoples, help the two countries better deal with global challenges together, and contribute to world peace and global development.
The spokesperson said China hopes to work with the British side to make new progress in bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, and bring better benefits to the two countries and the world.
