Santiago de Chile, June 30 (EFE). Chile’s President, Sebastian Pinera, on Wednesday held a remote meeting with medical and scientific advisors from the United Kingdom to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against the pandemic.
A statement issued by the Chilean presidency said that the authorities “shared important experiences specifically to strengthen the management of the epidemic and the vaccination process in Chile and England.”
The event was attended by Patrick Vallance, Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government. Jonathan Van Tam, Deputy Medical Director for England; Susan Hopkins, medical expert and advisor to Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Chilean Undersecretary of Health Alberto Dugnac and Paula Daza.

In the past 24 hours, 2,148 new cases of coronavirus and 56 deaths were recorded in Chile, leaving the total balance at 1.55 million infections and 32,545 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic in March of last year.
The wave of infection occurs despite the fact that Chile has used one of the most successful immunizations against Covid-19 disease in the world, which today reaches more than 80% of the target population (15.2 of 19 million people). EFE
