Santiago de Chile.- fleet 10 double-decker electric buses will be launched for the first time in Chile to cover an important route to the National Stadium, the official venue of the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.
The new capital’s public transportation units will be 12 meters long and just over four meters high, and will be equipped with air conditioning and an Internet signal.
They will make a 26-kilometre journey from Pajaritos metro station, west of the capital, traveling along Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, known as La Alameda; They will continue through Vicuña Macina towards the south until they reach the National Stadium.
Transport Minister Juan Carlos Muñoz pointed out that sporting events of this category bring together many people in the same place and therefore public mobilization has a special role.
“We will have a unique and special service that will be operated by these unique buses in our region,” the official said.
Sports President Jaime Pizarro said it would be a great postcard for local and visiting athletes, as well as an important benefit to the community.
Executive Director of the Santiago 2023 Foundation, Harold Mayne Nicholls, also commented on the importance of the mobilization network to bring the population closer to the Games through comfortable, safe and non-polluting means.
