Bristol business triumphs in Xero’s Beautiful Business Fund, securing £10,000 in funding

A Bristol-based company has emerged victorious as one of the recipients of a £360,000 global Xero prize. This prestigious award was part of Xero’s flagship Beautiful Business Fund, an initiative aimed at boosting the growth plans of small businesses and non-profit organizations, enabling them to achieve remarkable success.

The box received an overwhelming response, with a total of 5,500 orders coming from Xero customers based in the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the US.

From numerous applicants, 28 winners were selected, including four UK-based companies. Each of these winners demonstrated exemplary expertise by demonstrating how they used awarded funds to advance their future business goals in four different categories: Innovation for Sustainability, Enhancing Community Connection, Technology Leadership, and Training for the Future.

Bristol company Oat Float has been crowned winners in the Innovation for Sustainability category, receiving £10,000 in funding. Advertised as an environmentally committed company, Oat Float is actively helping families reduce their plastic footprint by bringing packaging-free products to local streets. With the newly acquired funding, the company plans to invest in technological advancements, offering customers the convenience of subscribing to delivery. Additionally, Oat Float aims to improve its fleet battery capacity to efficiently serve a broader customer base.

Alex von Schirmeister, Xero’s UK managing director, expressed his astonishment at the exceptional quality of the UK applications. Recognizing the enormous contribution made by the winners, von Schirmeister emphasized their inspiring qualities as small businesses. These award winners have unwavering ambition and compelling personal stories, further amplified by their incredible efforts to support local communities and create a better world.
