The first clipping in EL CORREO’s archives about Gorka Márquez refers to his participation in a dance exhibition at the Bengoetx (Galdacao) neighbourhood festivities in 2006. Márquez was 16 years old at the time. Almost two decades have passed and the Bilbao-born dancer is returning to Spain to be part of the jury of the new competition that Telecinco will soon launch: “Dancing with the Stars”. He is doing so after becoming a celebrity in the UK thanks to the BBC version of the same TV show.
On British television, the 32-year-old Marquez has appeared on air for seven seasons, dueting with prominent singers and actresses. He has never managed to win the BBC competition, although he has twice come in second place and holds the record for “10” in a single season, with 32. Moreover, the Bilbao native has become a celebrity in the gossip press. He is credited with numerous romantic relationships with people from the entertainment world.
With an undeniably attractive physique and a highly developed technique, Gorka can dance in any system, although he has his best marks in Latin rhythms. He will form the jury of Telecinco with Blanca Lee, Antonia Delattre, Julia Gomez Cura, Cristóbal Soria and Boris Izaguirre. “Dancing with the Stars” will be presented by Valeria Maza and Jesús Vázquez.
