Bell Textron has announced that the three-axis autopilot of the Bell 407GXi has achieved British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) certification.
“We are delighted to introduce the Bell 407GXi 3-axis autopilot to our customers in the UK,” said Patrick Mulay, Senior Vice President of International Sales. “The system allows to reduce the pilot’s workload and assist in the event of unintended instrument weather conditions (IIMC), increasing the pilot’s overall comfort and facilitating over long distances.”
It is available in two- and three-axis configurations. In addition, the system is equipped with the following:
- The Stability Augmentation System automatically restores the aircraft to a near level flight position at all speeds in the event of a roll or counter pitch.
- stability at all stages of the flight
- Envelope protection to prevent over speed and over speed.
“Owners can select the autopilot system on their new Bell 407GXis or install the system after the fact,” they point out from Bell.
