Artists demand the continuity of cultural development in Bolivia

With the statement, the signatories declared themselves in a state of emergency due to a lack of proposals and candidates and declared their concerns about a lack of knowledge of regulations, plans, programs, projects and agreements on the part of the office of the Mayor of La Paz.

They also called for respecting the allocation of 3.5% of the general budget for cultural purposes. As well as transparent and coordinated elections for sector representatives, who must meet the necessary professional requirements.

The Friends of Cultures Group said we consider ourselves a vigilant and promoter part of fulfilling the Autonomous Municipal Cultures Act and the continuity of management in the interest of the arts and all citizens.

The letter was signed by members of civil society, associations and entities belonging to the academic world of the Latin American country, who were at that time involved in drafting the aforementioned legislation.
