Anniversary BA in Political Science

It was an invitation to think about forms of engagement for those who are not an active part of the political community.

Within the framework of the celebration in Panama of the 10th Central American Conference on Political Science under the title “Central America and the Search for Comprehensive States”; The rise and fall of this degree, at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, was recounted by Professor Rubén Darío Rodríguez, Professor of Political Science at the University of Panama, and presented to students, professors and national and foreign guests, noting the following: “In 2024, the tenth anniversary of the birth of the B.Sc. in Political Science at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Panama.” As this anniversary approaches, it is necessary to practice the balance between the experiences of creating and developing a university degree.

It is necessary, above all, in addition to the achievements that have been achieved, to review the shortcomings that still hinder the academic and scientific progress of political science at the University of Panama. From this obligatory contemplation, an action plan must emerge that frees the discipline from its pressing obstacles and pressing problems…

“Political science is a global academic project. As a discipline in Latin America, its creation and development can be traced back to the middle of the twentieth century. It had to define its boundaries with other disciplines, which was not an easy task given its areas of competence; however, it created a space of its own.” , in addition to giving meaning and content to its work and its social benefit.
