TAAG-Angola Airlines announced Friday that it will resume commercial flights to Havana, the capital of Cuba, which were halted during the Covid-19 pandemic, from November.
Through a press release from Angop Agency, the company based its destination appeal on a positive assessment of business on transcontinental routes linked to America and Europe.
According to the source, Angola and Cuba share strong historical ties and passenger exchange, mainly due to the entry of the island’s corporate sector (doctors and teachers) and trips in the opposite direction for reasons of tourism, education and health.
From November 8, flights from Luanda to Havana, on a Boeing 777-300, will begin with biweekly frequencies that month, weekly in December, and biweekly in February 2023, according to the report.
The company also plans to increase the number of flights to Madrid (Spain), with an additional flight (weekly) in response to higher levels of demand and aircraft occupancy.
In recent days, TAAG has stated that it will increase its flights to Maputo (Mozambique), Windhoek (Namibia) and Sao Paulo (Brazil) starting in October, in order to offer customers more options.
Currently, the airline covers 14 domestic routes and 12 international destinations, including the growing freight transport.
