As for Amazon, which was born less than three decades ago in Jeff Bezos’ garage with the aim of selling books online, today it no longer has any relationship with that company.
A few days ago, Latin America’s largest delivery center not only started in Mexico, but is also about to start delivering to businesses and brick-and-mortar stores.
The largest e-commerce company in the world decided to enter the proximity spiral in Mexico in order not to be left out, and chose to strengthen its supply chains in the North American region, through this delivery center.
Just a few days ago, on September 14, Bezos’ company opened in Mexico City what it claims is its largest unit in Latin America, at 30,000 square meters, which can fit six soccer fields.
The new “last mile” center aims to be a reference for this type of warehouse responsible for concentrating all goods and then distributing them in record time.
From 2015, when Amazon arrived in Mexico, until now, the company has invested about $3,000 million, and today employs more than 8,000 people directly and 32,000 indirectly, with more than 40 warehouses in the country.
The new hub, called DXX1, will be located in the CuauhtĂ©moc Mayor’s Office and will be operated by three last-mile solutions: DSP (Delivery Service Partners), Different Hub and Amazon Flex.
The three are committed to developing local companies and operators who will provide courier services. Pilot tests of the DSP began in 2022 in the country, but the trial dates back to 2014 when it began in the United States.
Through the center, Amazon executives emphasize that their goal is to encourage small and medium-sized companies to digitize their businesses, accelerate their shipments, and improve their customer experience.

- One of its first slogans was The Biggest Bookstore on Earth, and in 1997 it was sued by Barnes & Nobles, which claimed its slogan was false.
