London, April 14 (EFE). Some 16,400 people from Ukraine have arrived in the UK after the mandatory visa was granted, according to preliminary data released this Thursday by the government.
According to statistics, 13,200 arrived under the family reunification immigration system, because they already had relatives on British soil, while the rest were taken care of by citizens willing to welcome them into their homes.
The British Executive, one of the few to request a visa for refugees from the Russian invasion, has received a total of 94,700 visa applications, of which 56,500 have been approved so far.
There were 55,600 applications for the sponsorship program, of which 25,100 were approved. Of the 39,100 treated by the family reunification system, 31,400 were granted.
The government launched the sponsorship system after finding the traditional immigration route insufficient, but it has been criticized for its mismanagement and for providing scarce resources and guarantees for both hosts and guests. EFE
