A new law helps low-income families pay rent in the United States

Enrollment in the Section 8 program that allows thousands of low-income families to pay their monthly rent has already begun. Orange County, Los Angeles welcomes applications from those who qualify for this financial aid.

Initially, this assistance is expected to reach Anaheim residents, however, families from other nearby cities will also be eligible. Program director Miriam Cepeda commented that the project is comprehensive and she hopes many will benefit from it in the short term.

The application must be submitted online. Those with limited financial resources will be listed as eligible. Important fact: They must have an active email account to check application status often.

How do you apply for financial aid?

Anyone who lives or works in Anaheim can apply for this financial resource, as can veterans. For obvious reasons they must prove that they work or reside there. Meanwhile, the relief request deadline is April 6, 2023, exactly 4:59 PM. Files have already been received since March 8th.

Once the deadline for applying for the Section 8 program is over, 10,000 people will be selected through a lottery. This will select each position on the waiting list. Those who apply will be formally notified of their status, via email, before next April 20.

The waiting period can vary from months to years. It all depends on the actual need of eligible families. The Cuban Guide recommends getting more information on this topic by calling 714-765-4654. A team of subject matter experts will assist those interested Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Another option is to visit the site anaheim.net/applysection8.
